Marvel VS Capcom 2

INTRODUCTION

A long, long time ago(about 9 years ago) MVC2 only existed in the arcade. Eventually it was ported to the Dreamcast for many to enjoy and practice on at home. The Playstation and XBOX ports were always considered inferior to the Dreamcast port. So up until recently, an MVC2 enthusiast would be forced to buy an out-of-date system to simply play one game; and it could only be played locally. Then one day, a miracle happened…a mysterious website “tu4ar.com” appeared featuring only a countdown clock and a familiar looking “2” in the background. At the end of the countdown it was announced that Marvel VS. Capcom 2 would be ported to the PS3 and the XBOX360! These two new ports featured HD graphics and more importantly they also offered solid online play.

A GOOD CONNECTION

So if you are lucky enough to own a PS3 (or you own an XBOX360) then head to the PSN store to buy this game for a mere $15. And now you are ready to play MVC2, right? Wrong! First you should make sure you have a good connection to the internet. If you own a PS3, go to the XBM-> Settings->Network Settings-> and then start the “Internet Connection Test”. This screen should appear:

Although everything says “Succeeded”, the problem is the “NAT Type Type 3”. Your goal is to make it say “Type 2”. If it already says that then you can skip to the next section. If not, then you need to open the following ports in your router:

TCP 80
TCP 443
TCP 5223
UDP 3478
UDP 3479
UDP 3658
An alternative to this method is to “DMZ” your system. Most routers support this feature and it will solve all your connection problems. After taking the necessary steps, go ahead and run the “Internet Connection Test” again. If you did it correctly you should see this screen:

Type 2=Good Connection.

BEING A GOOD SPORT

A good connection doesn’t necessarily ensure a good game. A “good game” is something that is highly subjective but everybody should be able to agree on one thing: that good sportsmanship is a requirement. Here is a short list that explains what a good sport should and shouldn’t do:

1. Don’t Rage Quit. Rage quitting is disconnecting from your opponent right before losing the match. If you only follow one piece of advice, follow this one.
2. Give new players a chance to play. Pick a “low-tier” team so that you will be challenged and the “noob” will have a chance to improve his or her game.
3. Play fairly and don’t play cheaply. Playing “cheaply” means different things to different people. In general, this means not running away or abusing powerful assist.
4. Have fun!
